Wow, that was where I went to 8th and 9th grade, but my dad graduated from that school. Is it still there? I have not been to Butler in, what, 30 years? Thanks for the memories
The red brick building is still the junior high, and they have renovated and added on to it after tearing down the yellow brick building about 20 years ago.
The class of 1960 would have been the last class to graduate from the red building. I was '61 and the first class from the high school on the hill. This was a good old building at the time.
The class of 1960 was in between the old fashioned ideals of the 1950's and the anything goes attitude of the later 60's.Our war was Vietnam. It left lasting scars. Today we're retired. Most of us have had a productive life. Many have already passed on.
I started at the yellow building in 7th and 8th grade and then went to the 9th grade in the red building.I remember open lunch periods, and movies in the auditorium at lunch time.I went down town to the Hot Dog Shop or Sun Drug for the.50 cent special.Does anyone remember what the .50 cent special was.
I was an almost 'Class of 60'grad but moved to fla my junior year. That was an enormous change in environment (beside the weather and the beaches) from BHS where virtually everyone had lived their entire life in the Butler area to a HS where our hometowns were printed under our picture in the yearbook. While BHS was very cliquis (jocks, brains, city or township) I suffered no harm and I still remember with some fondness growing up in the area.

I heard there was a reunion this year, 2011, but I couldn't get any info.
