Bantam Lounge ~

I recall seeing that bar for many years. I am fairly sure it was on Hansen Avenue across from the Pullman Railcar plant, along with a string of other bars. That would make sense given the Bantam Car plant was in the same area (I think).
The awning you see in the picture is from the Bantam Lounge, that is true. The building however is not the location that the bar was located on, when it was up and running. This photo is of 627 Bessemer Ave, and the current owner of the apartment building purchased the awning from the Bantam Lounge when it went out of business and placed it here, above his shop. I myself am currently trying to find out more information on this exact building, so if anyone has any information on who lived here prior to the Konar family, I would be interested to know about it! Thanks!!!
It seemed to be general knowledge in those days that the Hansen Avenue bars would line up shots and sandwiches for the Pullman workers on lunch break. No surprise Pullman had a horrible safety record.
