Keeping up with past and present happenings in a remarkable small town.
Argh. A major piece of my childhood in Butler...gone.I loved their maple rolls, donuts and birthday cakes. ((sigh))
Outstanding Italian bread. Served in some Butler restaurants. Too bad small business can't survive in today's economy.
Charles, had a feeling you would pick up on this quick. They will be missed.
I want a snail and I can't have one again. I know I will miss it. Dose anyone have there recipe for snails?
Cannot understand all the praise for this bakery! When I started a new job I bought a dozen donuts to share with the people I worked with. The donuts were stale and tasteless! I was so embarrassed as everyone was throwing them in the wastecans. NEVER BOUGHT FROM THIS BAKERY AGAIN. Personally, I am glad they are closing. Wonder why they closed so quietly? They say it's the economy? With so many people rushing in to buy items and lament over the closing, I don't think it's the economy. Wonder if the true story will ever be told?
Does anyone know where I can find a recipe for their Maple Nut Loaf?
I sobered up on Stanley's donuts, coffee and meetings at St. Paul School. A pity another Butler institution bites the dust.
Whats the deal here??? They were always selling everything....No other bakery around.... did they even try to sell this ??? Pretty strange you go to your business one day and you decide your cosing it forever!!More to this than meets the eye!
Other than the giant doughnut it was no great shakes, mediocre at best.
Funny, for being mediocre they managed to fool the public for 45 years....
You just can't compete against the chains. It doesn't even matter if your product is better quality. People are programmed to go to Giant Eagle, Walmart for the birthday cakes even though they don't taste nearly as good as Stanley's.
alot of suckers in butler, they have had the wool over their eyes a long time
I have always preferred Lyndora Bakery they have the BEST doughnuts! Went to Stanleys once the doughnuts were stale!
I love the bake shop on Main Street in Saxonburg. Cute place, great service and all homemade from scratch. My family love the cakes esp. the Razzle Dazzle and the Carribean Dream . The nutrolls are my favorite very flakey. Give them a try. They don't sell donuts. But my kids like to go there and pick up a cookie or 2.
All you assholes that want to talk shit about stanleys but can only do it anonymously mean nothing if your opinion was valid you wouldnt hide you identity
The best way to enjoy a Stanley's cake was to take it home, throw away the cake and eat the box. You are so brave "kristopher" Let's see your last name you big mouth coward!
I bet kristopher's real name is Dick.
You call me a coward but you hide your identity so whos the coward?
You are the coward kristopher! I don't want to reval my name, but you pretend to be all high and mighty. Anyone can throw a first name out there. Come on, step out into the light big guy. What is your last name oh brave one????? Ha ha ha ha ha.
its fair....i aint scared of you or anybody else
Fair, hmm, didn't they marry into the cream puff family?
A diversion from this thread - Does anyone know if the Lyndora Bakery, with their delicious dark rye, is still in business?
Yes the Lyndora bakery is still going, pumpernickel, marble rye and the famous kiffle are on the counter everyday not to mention their doughnuts, cookies and carrot cake
Best white wedding cake EVER! Anyone know how I would get the recipe?
Loved their cake icing. Does any one have the recipe for their icing? Thanks.
Does anyone know what's going into Stanley bakery building. I hope Stanley's are coming back. I really have missed their cakes. They were the BEST.
i think is coming new family pizzeria , i heard they are good !will see can't wait to try it !it looks good , they did alot of work in and out !
My sister worked there years ago , she moved to California then Arizona, I live in Ohio We would drive down to Butler and get snails when I flew out there for a visit, my sister passed away almost 5 years ago I was trying to find recipe for their snails .
