New Monroe Street Bridge ~
They call it Lookout Point Bridge.

I doubt if this name will catch on with the general public, it will be Monroe St bridge to 99% of the people. Lookout Point should be reserved for your wallet regarding the politicians who are currently in the fleecing mode
Why is everyone SOOOOO NEGATIVE on this blog? If you don't like what is happening run in May Primary for an elected office. No one ran against the Mayor and 7 votes got R Schontz elected to City Council.
I grew up on the SS and don't ever remember it being called look out point.I know I use to walk over that bridge every day on my walk to the Jr. high school.I have since moved away and understand the SS isn't what it was when I was a kid growing up there.
I grew up on South Monroe Street very near this bridge. My father grew up on McClain Avenue. He was born in 1910. He told me that when he was a young boy, South Monroe Street was called "Lookout Avenue" becaause of the view of Institute Hill area--as well as the entire sawbelly obtained from the vantage point of that bridge. He also told me that boys were very territorial in those days, and that other boys, if not of Italian descent as as they were, better "lookout" if they tried to pass through their neighborhood. He might have been joking about the last bit...hopefully! :)

We make it and they love to take it.
They yell, "Lookout!" and Point while they pick your wallet.
Wasn't it a steel trellis bridge before? I remember it at a much lower level.

lookout for the thugs. I do believe that is where that women was dragged into{ RR trax} and assaulted
It a great improvement of what we had now if we can only get the sidewalk and street clean up

I for one am so happy that bridge is repaired. I too used to walk it daily to school. Those were the days......
Monroe Street in that area of town was once upon a time called Lookout Avenue thus Lookout Point.
