Well, I had some fun with this post card. I think that the brown house in the foreground with two porches is at the corner of Federal St. and McKinley Ave., 419 McKinley Ave. The house is still there and looks much the same. You can see it all with street view on Google Maps. The picture would have been taken from up on the hill immediately west of McKinley Ave.
Bubba, I believe you're right. From the angle to the courthouse tower I thought maybe it was Mercer St and Maryland Ave. I'll check it out next time I get back in town. Been gone since 1970.
The brown house is most definitely at 419 McKinley. The partial house in the left foreground is at 427 McKinley. The porch pillers, windows and roof line are a perfect match. The tannish house to the right of 427 McKinley, but set back in the picture is at 418 Bredin Ave. Again the windows and roof line match. The house is now painted green.
So, I wonder, where did they keeps the horses in 1910? Or, did most folks not have any and the walked everywhere? I do not see any garages, barns or out buildings.
I agree with Bubba & Dennis. The viewpoint is from the west-hillside of McKinley Ave, about where Pearl St. meets McKinley. I delivered the Sunday Pittsburgh Press on this route(borders were Federal to Fulton, Olive to N. Main) from about 1961-71. I remember many of the people as well as the houses. Bredin is the next street over running parallel to McKinley.

I would say Mercer and Penn Streets. Great picture. Thanks.
