The Wayne St Viaduct will close for good on June 3, allowing the McKean St side of the new bridge to be built. The section of Center Ave from Wayne to McKean (by the old Atlas Hotel) will re open to one way traffic heading west. So getting out of the Southside will be pretty easy. Coming over from Main St will be lotsa fun! Should be all wrapped by mid September. Pat
A friend of mine named Donny Dittmer also drove off that bridge and was killed back in December of 1980. Also a man named Gino who owned the 7-11 on Rt. 8 South jumped to his death over that bridge about 10 years or so ago. That bridge was a curse!
Deconstruction started on the west side of the Viaduct on Monday June 8. The building at the other end on the corner of Center and Fairview is being taken down by hand since it's attached to Capital Cleaners.
I come up to visit on long holiday weekends. Someone posting status updates on these bridges would be greatly appreciated so I know which way I can go and which ways I can't. Man, I'm already tired of running out through Herman to hit 422 to get around Butler. Please keep posting the updates!
OK Lisa, construction continues on the Wayne St Viaduct. It's not really too terrible getting around. The detours aren't that bad, I do it a couple times a day. Looks like they'll be installing the final spans any day now. The Monroe St bridge is stil out tho, that's kind of a pain. Check the site: http://www.waynestreetviaduct.com/

Any one remember the group of kids that drove off the bridge in the 70's.?
Wasn't that Jeff Trimbur and Mike Mercantile? I beleive Jeff trimbur died in the accident. Mike lives in Florida.
I had a friend named Roland who drove off the bridge in the late 70s and was killed.I can't remember his last name.I knew him from BC.

aww.... just wrecking ball it.
They SHOULD have fixed the Monroe Street bridge instead of arguing like little babies about it. THAT would have made driving around alot easier.
