I grew up on Cunningham St. The "crick" behind our house was always a source of concern. My parents were very happy when the creek was filled in. Not sure when that happened. Does anyone know when that was?

That was when the "Island" became no longer an island. That was back in the early to mid 60's.

I remember that flood, we lived on 4th Ave. Motor boats went up and down sloshing water. It seems it was cold and my dad went around with sump pump to keep pilot lights on for our neighbors. Was there other floods to reach 4th Ave.?

I had a dear friend who lived on Pillow St.and saved for years to buy a piano. Finally her dream was realized when she bought her upright piano. Not long after that, the flood hit and and the flood waters came all the way up to the keyboard. I was so sad for her.
