Wish we had some names; wondering if my dad's mother (who I never met) is among these mothers of WWII, waiting for my dad, her son to return from storming ashore at Anzio. But that turned into a three-year wait as dad recovered from wounds received during the campaign and the march to Rome. According to family history, they saw their son finally when he walked up to the porch on the South Side and said "I'm home."
