I don't remember it,heck I may not have noticed and it may still be there. I'd say it was most likely on Main north,between Penn and Pearl streets. The terrain is too flay for further north.
I was going to say Main and Penn, on the northwest corner and that the house is still there (last time I was in Butler). That side entrance on the Penn Street side still sticks in my mind.
I was going to say that house is on the northwest corner of Main and Penn, across from the old Forcht Motor car lot and that it's still standing (last time I was in Butler). Somehow I remember that side entrance facing Penn Street.
I would love for someone in Butler to take a picture of this house as it looks today so I can get a better idea of what it is being used for and where it is located. I really enjoy these old pictures from Butler's past.

I believe if you look at the writing on the bottom of the pic it reads J.H.Troutman which would have been J. Henry Troutman. He died in 1919. In my 1936 city directory there is a listing for his widow Mary E at 422 N Main st
I believe the location of this house is 422 N Main Street, which now is Lifeline and Jay Shaffer Financial. The roofline, dormers in the front and sides, and the windows on the second floor are all the same. The chimneys and small porch on the side are all gone, and the front porch has been enclosed. It has a unique second floor window, and it's about the same amount of property. It's next to a parking lot.
This home is still standing at 422 North Main St. It has been altered-porch enclosed-porch removed to the left, and chimneys removed. There are a couple of businesses in there now, but if you look up at the second floor, you can see the windows, dormers, and roofline are the same.
If you copy and paste this link into your web browser it should show you a picture to the home as it is today. I found it using google maps street view. Hard to get a good angle because the trees that are small in the picture have grown to block the front of the building for a straight on shot. Let me know if the link works for everyone. Thanks

I think that building is Village Pizza now.

Thank you Dan H. That is exactly the house that is pictured. It is right beside the church I used to go to, Westminster PCA. Really interesting.
I used to work there when it was the Butler County AAA.
