A imposing building at the park where the skating rink used to be.

You're right! It was the most romantic place I knew, especially in the evening when the lights were low and the music right and dozens of girls out skating.

Did they also hold dances there? I remember my parents talking about dancing at, I think, Alameda.
It was great fun to go out there on the streetcar and spend the day. I liked the pony rides.
