Thank you for posting the inscription.
Why didn't they put a cross beside the names of the soldiers who were killed?
There are no crosses because all of the soldiers listed here were killed in Vietnam.
I knew four of these soldiers. It's nice to know that Butler honors and remembers their sacrifice. Per the above post, not all were killed in Viet Nam. My friend Bill Fennick was killed in the Bermuda Triangle when his submarine named the Scorpion was lost. Bill volunteered for submarine duty and was excited about the assignment. Unfortunately, his wife was expecting a child when he was lost and Bill never had an opportunity to see the baby. A very tragic end for a real hero.
What a sad story. The tragedy of war and that is why the men need to be remembered.
If anyone reads the Butler Eagle obituaries of those who have veteran status, you may notice many of the Vietnam vets are only in their sixties when they are passing away. Most WWII vets are in their eighties.
Did his submarine disappear? Alot
of strange things happened in that
Bermuda Triangle.
Yes - I believe that they may have located some debris, but it remains one of the Bermuda Triangle's mysteries. I don't believe that they ever found a cause for the disappearance.
This posting is wonderful.
My uncle James A Bailey will never be forgotten.
Thank you
Greetings. I am trying to find anyone who lived on the grounds of the Butler VA Hospital in the 1970s. Anyone out there?
Check with Rick Santorum. I think he lived on the Government dole back then.
Yes, his parents worked at Deshon VA Hospital and lived out there.
All veterans from all wars should be honored and remembered. Don't know that any war has "meaning", but the Vietnam War is one war in particular where there doesn't seem to be any reason why the USA was involved. A salute to all veterans and a SPECIAL salute to the Vietnam War Veterans. God Bless them all.
One of my best friends Gary. D Reed will never be forgotten.
