I remember my friend and I walking home done that walk. We heard some kids talking as we got towards the bottom about beating the daylights out of the next kids that came passed. The kid waiting to beat us up was one of the infamous Doctors. Luckily, my friend was Joey Doctor's cousin and instead he was nice and friendly. What a relief!
I traveled up and down that path. I don't remember the sidewalk that wide back in 61/62. Nobody ever bothered you, you sweated going up and coming you could almost roll.
I grew up with the Fairs, lived on the same street for a while. Danny and Randy were close friends. Knew the Doctors too. I once got into a fight with Joey at West End Playground in the early 70's. It was a draw, which led to mutual respect afterward, which was the custom at the time.
Yes, much class skipping, and imbibing was done in those woods by the sidewalk. Good times, more reasonable times, more tolerant times, more truthful times.

look, those kids are going to burn one, that was and is a favorite pastime for people that went down the sidewalk

now? Probably either in jail or

In the winter, if you had the right shoes on, you could hold your girl's hand and slide nearly all the way down. Going up was a bit trickier.
