Brian Minto is putting Butler, Pa. on the map!

Another victory on Friday night! Now 33-2. Go Brian!

Played football with him. Nice to see he's doing good now....but I remember him as a steroid-using bully who couldnt add 2+2....threw a penny at me once while he was the passenger of a vehicle going down the hill that leads from the high school into town....sliced my finger....very funny.

Hey, he's got us on the map.

Anonymous said...

yeah , woopy on the map because of a brain full of mush! wow way to go Brian. keep making other brains turn to mush

I heard that he punched out Vic Backowski behind the hoagie shop. From then on it was all icing on the cake.

Anonymous said...

yeah, but then he ate the cake and could'nt box for days

the person that said i played football with an the other rude comments you must be a miserable human being an 2+2=4 sorry about your anger towards my success. And if i did hit you with a penny sorry! Did you ever do stupid things?

Actually Brian is fighting Darnell Holmes. He is 31-0-2. Sould be a good fight.

Brian looks a lot like "Puggy" Minto who I grew up with back in the 50s. I think Puggy's real name was Ed. I'm not sure how he was related to Marty, Brian's father. Best of luck Brian!

WHo won?

Who cares?

A minor character in a little-noticed "sport."

Minto won in the 4th round - TKO!! Congrats to Brian!!

See 8/15 Anonymous, people do care! If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all.

Anonymous said...

It was not a TKO. It was a techinal decision. Big difference! The fight was stopped due to a unintentional head butt which caused a cut on Minto. The decision is being reviewed to make sure it was a head butt and not caused by a punch. If by a punch might be a possibility of a
re-match.

RE-MATCH, RE-MATCH !!!!!!!!!!!1

Anonymous said...

I would like to see Minto fight someone of his own caliber -- AND, this last fight at pullman park -- -- Minto had a cut, Minto was dizzy, and Minto should have lost the fight. It is very convenient how he ALWAYS seems to win -- whether he officially should or not. This last guy would have kicked his a@@ had it been allowed to continue or ruled on properly.

Anonymous said...

now that the win has been overuled and called a draw will minto step up and give the man a rematch or will he give some lame excuse about money and go find a bum to fight?

Anonymous said...

he will give some lame excuse about money and go find a bum to fight

Why are the majority of Butlerites who post comments on this and other forums illiterate as well as uneducated? Every time I read their comments, I find it hard to believe that somebody of average intelligence actually wrote them, instead, I visualize a half-human, half-monkey hybrid banging away on a computer...anyway, that being said, I wholeheartedly support Brian Minto in all of his endeavors and wish him nothing but success and good fortune throughout his pugilistic career.

Anonymous said...

I would venture the majority of these posts are written by products of the Butler school system. Brian Minto is a big fish in a small pond otherwise he would not be in Butler fighting these nickel and dime matchs

I watched the Minto/Holmes fight and I didn't see any blood. If there was blood it couldn't have been much. I remember seeing Brian sitting down talking to the Ref and I didn't see any blood. Fighters bleed all the time in boxing and fights aren't normally stopped unless the bleeding is excessive over an eye. I didn't see anything that was excessive or couldn't have been stopped between rounds.

There isn't any reason Brian shouldn't do a rematch. People would pay to see it. Money can't be used as an excuse. The controversy would bring people out to pay to watch a rematch. Brian should want to do the rematch out of pride alone. His own hometown Fans were booing at the fight because of the way the fight was stopped. He will lose all of those fans unless he does a rematch. If Brian gives Holmes a rematch I will be a fan win or lose. If Brian doesn't give Holmes a rematch I will never watch another one of his fights.
Everyone I have talked to also thinks he should give Holmes a rematch and will never watch another of his fights if he doesn't.

Does anyone remember Roberto Duran?
Duran had an excellent career.

Do people look back and say Duran was a great or even good fighter?

No. They don't because Duran knew he was fighting a fighter that had outmatched him and instead of fighting until the end and giving the fans their MONEY's WORTH, Duran said "NO MAS, NO MAS".

Fans don't like to PAY MONEY to watch QUITTERS.

*********

I have seen fighters BEGGING the Ref to allow them to continue to fight. I would pay $ to watch this type of fighter. I Love fighters that don't QUIT!

I will NEVER AGAIN PAY MONEY to watch a fighter that BEGS His hometown Ref to STOP the fight!

Duran had a GREAT career until the NO MAS fight..
Fans spent MONEY and TIME to watch him QUIT in the Infamous No Mas, No Mas fight.

Now DURAN is retired and LIVING in ‘SHAME’ as a Quitter.

A REMATCH is a MUST or the fighter will live forever in infamy as a quitter crying to the HOMETOWN REF to stop the fight.

THE REMATCH MUST BE 'FREE' TO THE FANS SINCE THEY WERE RIPPED OFF IN THE FIRST FIGHT! No One thought they were paying to watch a fighter BEG THE REF TO STOP THE FIGHT!

Hey REF. NO MAS, NO MAS.
...but give me the win.

LOL LOL LOL LOL

I'll be watching. And a lot of my Ohio friends will be at my place to see the fight.

Whomever the idiot is who invoked the named of Roberto Duran and the NO MAS Fight AS some sort of Denial of Greatness on the 5 decade Boxing career of the Legendary Panamanian fighter is a FOOL! Duran's professional record of 119 fights, 103 wins with 70 KOs. Duran is a revered figure in Panama and thought to be a top 10 all-time fighter .

Duran began as a PRO at 16 and won his FIRST 30 bouts, he went on to GRAB World Titles in 5 different weight divisions, Duran is in The BOXING HALL OF FAME! Below are a few of ROBERTO DURAN'S accomplishments...

Minto TKO'd in 4th Round

Written by WISR News
Saturday, 05 December 2009 22:16

In what is being hailed as a "war of a heavyweight" battle, Butler boxer Brian Minto was knocked out in the 4th round of his fight with Chris Arreola in Atlantic City Saturday night. Minto was knocked down early in the fourth round by Arreola, but got back up and battled before finally being knocked down again. Minto was able to get to his feet, but the fight was stopped by the referee. Minto's record falls to 34-3 (21 ko's), while Arreola improves to 28-1 (25 ko's).

anonymous do you have a real job. Apprently not if you have all this time to keep posting insults on a web site. Brian MInto like others that have made something of themselves come to this towne out of respect and love for Butler so lay off.

okay all you minto sheeple, the butler eagle chose to promote this his upcoming fight in its sports editorial by the resident hack john henrietto because it looks like the ticket sales are down, could it be people have had enough of mintos dog and pony shows, stay tuned

Anonymous said...

looks like minto is throwing in the towel, he has cancelled the ''Historic Pullman Park'' show due to lack of interest and he has also cancelled the Days Inn show also. Maybe the kool aid has worn off and people see him for what he is just another money grubber wrapped in the Butler flag of days gone past

I wonder if Brian's grandmother's maiden name was Ference? My grandmother (Pazza Ference Bilowich) married a Minto, but we never had much contact with each other.

Wow, I am so proud that my parents got me out of butler as a kid. Imagine the people you are! Horrible people, instead of saying "hey Brian we know you can do it!" you rehash high school memories. If I was mean to everyone from high school that did something mean to me, or god forbid the people I was mean to act like you, I wouldn't have any reason to stay in this world. However where I come from we grow up and become adults. Forgive and forget, and shake hands with the people that were once children. Brian is a success in what he does, and his life. This blog is easy to find just type "Brian minto" in google and here you are. Imagine now if his family were to stumble into this page. His son or daughter, his wife or his mother! Every single one of you should be ashamed. Grow up! Just because you have never left butler to do anything, and remain a bunch of hometown hicks, doesn't mean that you should look down on someone who is doing all they can to enjoy their life.

I took my son and father to Brians last fight against Karam. To me Karam looked hungry and looked like he was a seasoned veteran. He didnt look like a hand picked punching bag like all you minto haters are saying. Brian Minto was and still is an excellent fighter. I cant wait to go see him again . Also he took the time after the fight (BEFORE GETTING HIS EYE STITCHED SHUT!!!) to take my son in his dressing room and get a photo with my 9 year old son. I hope he keeps kicking a.. and just maybe you haters would have the guts to not hide behind your computer and tell him this stuff to his face you chicken sh..s!!! Good Luck Brian! Hope to see you fight again soon.

I know so many Minto stories from back in the day. And yes, he was a bully, a meathead, and he did alot of people wrong. But he seems to have capitalized on what he did well and in the process he apparently became a better person. He also gave Butler some good press instead of the usual junkie overdosing.

Brian Minto, is an inspiration of anyone from small town America...I hear alot of people on hearing judging him...I have never known a man yet whom has not made mistakes...Learn to forgive, for that is how one truly learns to live...

Anyone who wants to debate his career...Brian has already been a successful "Professional Boxer." How many among you have made the professional ranks of any sport?

Please, give the man his respect, and help lift him up...Support him Butler, he is your fighter...

Brian Minto, is an inspiration to anyone from small town America...I hear alot of people judging him...Or holding old grudges...Learn to forgive, for that is the way to truly live...

Give the man the respect he deserves...He has a successful "profesional boxing," career...The odds of acheiving what he has accomplished...Well, think of all the guys who tell the old war stories--but you have never seen their name in the paper..

He is Butler's fighter...Rather, than knock him down...Get behind him, and support him...and when he throws that knockout punch on his opponent--that man will feel all the hardworking people of Butler landing on his chin....
