Butler's Born Actor ~ Frederick West McCarren ~ BHS '69

Fred McCarren was one of the brightest stars on Butler High School's stage. We remember him in My Fair Lady, Once Upon a Mattress, Little Me and other excellent productions.

I regret that I did not learn about my cousins passing until the 12th. of July.

I did not have the pleasure of knowing this young man. I knew his parents well, his father from the store on Main Street and his mother with whom I went to school. She was from the wonderful and numerous West family. Sissy, Billy, Milly, all are names which bring back memories. I remember them as they were in 1945 when I left Butler. I read about Fred's death in the Butler Eagle obituaries and felt very sad for the McCarren family's loss.

Fred was such a great guy. I worked in Costumes for the BHS school plays and musicals that Fred was in. We had such a wonderful time and he was so entertaining.
