This hotel sat where the Working Man's Store (Guaranty Trust 1919) now sits. It was built in the 1850's and was the first 3 story commercial building on Main Street. It was in this hotel that Clara Barton stayed when she visited Butler during the typhoid fever epidemic of 1903.
My mother, Helen Lowry, is the grandaughter of one of the hotel's owners. I have a few spoons from the hotel's dining room and intend to present them, along with several boxes of family documents and clippings, to the Butler County Historical Society.

This hotel must have been there before the PNB bank was built.
