They don't make school auditoriums like this anymore! The beauty of this place plus the marble stairway can never be duplicated in modern school buildings.
I remember a Christmas assembly when Toni Briggs (I think her husband was one of the principals) sang "O Holy NIght". Guess that wouldn't happen nowadays.
I remember a lecture series back in the '60s that was held here for the citizenry when a speaker tried to convince us that to use a toothbrush with nylon bristles would harm, maybe even destroy, our teeth.
Pre 1960 it had ols uncomfortable wooden seats and poor lighting. Had study hall in the balcony. Kids threw pennies down at the tubas when band was on stage.
