This is not the High School Band, it's the All Girl Meridian Fife and Drum Corps. I have photos from when my sister and most of her friends were members.
That sure is the Woodpeckers. My sisters and I were in the corp in the 50's. My sister Dee, played the bells first, then the base drum, my sister Karen played the base drum and I played the fife. Boy does that bring back memories.
My fondest memories of high school were from Marching Band. Mr. Don Bishop Gibson was a good director and didn't deserve some of the youthful shenanigans by band members. We had those yellow uniforms and were often called a bunch of bannanas. Football nights were great.
If that picture is the "CD of A", then it is NOT the Meridian Woodpeckers... The "C D of A" was the Catholic Daughters of America Marching band. Their uniforms were Green and White satin. I had two cousins, Helen and Lois Ann Lehnard, who played in the band. The band was always a hit at any parade on Main Street in the 50's.

NOT BEING A PART OF THE BAND, I DO REMEMBER THE YEARLY MOUNTING OF A LOCK AND CHAIN ON MR. GIBSON'S GARAGE DOOR, SANS KEY FOR MR. GIBSON.

I was also in the fife & drum corps. The picture above is of the original members. I can't believe the corps isn't around anymore. It is sad.
