Butler also had a Sea Scout organization in the 50's. It met at the triangle shaped building at the corner of E. Jefferson and Kittanning Streets. The leader was a State Policeman named Lofblaud. A very good man. There was the laypout of a ship's deck on the third floor of the bulding. Great times.
I was a Center Township Cub Scout in the early 50's. Remember Wolf, Bear and Lion badges but not much else. We used to meet at the Mercer Road Volunteer Fire Dept. I loved their mid-thirties LaFrance fire engine which sounded like a fighter plane when they fired it up. Never really had much interest in the Boy Scouts.

What I learned in the Boy Scouts has served me well in life and I am ever thankful for those good years.
