I second the nomination for William Typinski. He was instrumental in my personal success, sending me forward with knowledge that I never thought I would use (and do to this day). He inspired me to become an amateur radio operator and to reach for the stars.

William Ellis and Al Stewart also as nominees for their efforts in building the computer program at BHS. Mr. Ellis shepherded me into becoming more than what guidance counselors at BHS said I would ever achieve.

Mr Trypinski "Mr T" as we called him in class, was a great guy and wonderful teacher. He was also a fellow Amateur Radio Operator who's influence inspired me to become and Electrical Engineer.

James Cavalero was my cousin. I remember the day we drove to Slippery Rock College for his graduation. My other cousin, his brother Rudy, drove us up in his 66 corvette. It was a good day. Good Bless you Jim

I noticed you have a list of Butler High School teachers that should have
special recognition. John T. Ifft is on the list as well he should be, but his
wife Edith Ifft should be honored as well. I had the very good fortune to
be in her English class when I was in the 11th grade. I remember to this day
the respect for literature and our culture she brought to our lives. She made
every student in her class special in lasting ways far beyond the material she
was teaching. She was a gift I appreciated throughout my life.

My name is Debbi Schoof and I am a retired PE teacher from Brick NJ. In 1978, I was a student teacher from SR State College, assigned to Butler Junior High, having a cooperating teacher named Betty Butler. She was a lovely and very kind woman; I lost my grandmother during that time and she was very sweet to me. I’m sure she may be passed on by now, but if you can share any information you might have about her, I’d appreciate it. I’ve searched often for her, to no avail. Her husband, Bill, owned a coin shop downtown and they lived outside of town, on the road from Slippery Rock. I remember passing her house on the right side, on a slight rise in the terrain. (40 years ago, that’s my memory).
She was a big influence in my career and have always kept her in my heart. If only to let her children how much she meant to me, that would be great!

Thank you,
Debbi Schoof- SRSC ’79

Vincent Sanzotti was a music teacher. He worked with Mr. Schweinberg to make the BHS maching band one of the finest in the land and did a fantastic job for many years with the BHS jazz band.

Stella was the first name of a fantastic teacher of French and German. She met her American husband in her home country, Germany, when he was stationed there in the military. They married and she ended up living in Butler. I think one of her hobbies was horses. She was a fantastic German teacher! Always had new ideas for making learning fun!

Janice Harrison... and her husband Bob Harrison (still living) ran much of the theatre performances of the district and the technical aspects of most outside rentals. They hosted often the PA State Thespian conference and were members of the board. They also worked with the Little Theatre. Generations of students referred to Janice as “Mother” or “Mom” She was kind, caring, and taught us all so much...
