Year?

I had Miss Shanor for my homeroom teacher in 7th grade at the Jr. High. That would have been approximately 1960 if I am figuring correctly. Any idea as to what year this picture was taken?

Miss Shanor looks much, much younger than when I had her for 7th grade English in 1963. I took a flyer on a name at random and Virginia Schnitzki comes up as being born in 1939. Given that most kids leave 8th grade at 12 or 13, I would put the picture at 1951 or 52.

Description should read R-L. Mary Lou Klowak is front row 1st on the left side.

I had Miss Shanor for 7th grade English, too. She was tough, but to this day I credit her with giving me good writing skills.

It would be nice if those who recognize themselves in the picture would post a comment.

I still remember Miss Shanor at Butler Junior High . . . Her room was across from the band room and she made you stand when you gave an answer in class.

I had her as well in 1963-64. I also remember my mom talking about her teaching in Lyndora.

Was in first grade in 1954. i think that is the principal [Mr. Shrecker??] to the left of Miss Shanor. Contrary to rumor, he did not have a "paddle machine".

I was called to the office on a routine matter and thought I was going to face the machine. I started crying. This kind principal conforted me and assured me the machine was an invention of the older students!!

Frank Komitsky should receive five gold stars for finding this treasure.

I especially like the grinning Mike Pawk in the last row as well as the flashy dress that Patty Gallagher [front row] is wearing.

Those 1950s were Happy Days indeed.

Cheers from the planet Earth.

It looks like Miss Shanor (she went to my church). I believe the principal is Wallace Kerr. He was there when I attended school there in 1965-1967.

Indeed this was taken in 1952. I went to Lyndora School for 5th and 6th grades, but went back to McQuistion school for 7th and 8th grades. Because of the merger of the city and township school districts, the last 8th grade graduating classes for Lyndora, McQuistion and Meridian schools were in 1952.

I also had Miss Shanor for 7th grade in 1965 at the junior high. I remember the list of helping verbs to this day.
