Vacant Lot ~

At the the corner of Main and Cunningham Streets
with a sign reminding us of an excellent Mens' store.

Such blight, on Main Street, no less. A shame there isn't something in the building code that requires walls like this be dressed up upon demolition of an adjoining structure.

Looks like a good place for a homeless camp to serve as a reminder the problem with homelessness in Butler

What was the name of the furniture store/ home decor store that was next door to the Hub?

Bubba...was it Altmeyer's?

John Honse -- located on the corner of Cunningham and Main.

The John Honse Furniture Store was located across the street from Troutman's. The empty lot seen in this picture was where Sun Drug Store used to be located. Altmeyers was to the right of McCarren's

NO - Sun Drug was at the corner of Jefferson and Main. Near the Hot Dog Shop. The empty lot in this picture is at the corner of Cunningham and Main.

Yes, that's right..I agree. After the Honse's sold/quit the business, the Barron family opened a furniture business at that location..

Wow... Beautiful Downtown Butler!

I disagree with Bubba. Thrift Drug Store was the at Jefferson and Main while Sun Drug Store was at the corner of Cunningham and Main. The book "Main Street Butler: An Album, 1960 & 1980 by Andy Pozar has the pictures to prove this. This book is sold by the Historical Society and is an excellent way to remember Butler in our growing up years.

It appears there is a rock garden being grown there

Fred Flintstone, it looks like it's coming together a bit more ... but together to what is my question. Does anyone know what the project for this corner is?
