Was great to go into a small store like that and have a look around. He was well stocked.

Where was this store located?

Just a few doors down from the Penn Theater.

According to a city directory I have this store was located on East Jefferson street between Franklin and Monroe streets with Mr. Chiprean the proprieter.
The 350 N. Main st address is near the WISR building

After the store burned down, J.C. Penney was built there(now Dollar General).

Where Penney's was located had been Offut's Department Store. Before that it was Duffey's. The store was not in that location.

right across the street from snack-n-pack's side parking lot is the easiest way to describe where this business was located.

The only hardware store on Main St. that I remember is Butler Hardware on the west side of N. Main. It was owned by our neighbor, Pete Schlict, who was Terry Hanratty's maternal grandfather.

The owners name was "Ange" Chiprean, short for Angelo. and it was located on the north side of East Jefferson street about five doors west of Elm Street

Yes, I agree that this store was not on Main Street. The only hardware store that I know of located there was Neuf's Hardware which was owned by my grandfather and then my father. I believe it was opened in the 30s and a second was open briefly up on North Main. My grandfather retired in about 60, and both stores were sold in 61 or 62 as my father thought downtown sales were slowing due to the first shopping centers being built. Butler Hardware mentioned in another comment must have gone into our location as I know it continued to be a hardware store for awhile after that. It was odd to go back to Butler and see someone else own the place. One of the ladies who worked for my father had a sister who worked at the meat counter at McGills in Meridian.

I updated this post on December 15, 2015 to show that the store was/is on Jefferson Street, not on Main. Sorry for confusing so many readers.
