I've been gone a long time. Refresh my memory of the exact location, please.

The location is the intersection of Center Ave and E Wayne St on the Southside. A new viaduct will be built next year and some buildings have been demolished in the process. There will be 4 more buildings taken down later. More photos to follow.

You can see the Viaduct Market in the background.

The old viaduct(E Wayne St)takes you from Main St to the Southside, over The Bessimer and CSX tracks and Connoquenessing Creek. The new one will take a slightly different route. It will be slightly south of the old one, eliminating the bend at the Center Ave side. Construction is continuing on the new supports. More photos as it progresses

Sad to see that building go...I was born and still live in Butler I've been here for 23 years...I'm not sure I like all the changes that are happening.

I have a few other pictures of the viaduct on my flickr for anyone interested.

my father worked for William Larkin in that Larkin Building starting when he was only 26 years of age and retired from that building when he was 62. During my 4 years at Butler High, I would walk over to see my dad and then to the top of the hill and home. So sad to see that wonderful building gone. I was in Butler the year it was destroyed.
